OvoControl® Urban Feeder
Assembly, Use and Installation Guide
The new OvoControl “Urban Feeder” has the same functionality as our standard rooftop automatic feeder. The urban feeder, however, is desinged for urban areas where the conventional feeder is not suitible or appropriate.
The new feeder is a ground level installation as opposed to a flat rooftopo. We recommend this feeder for areas where there may be competitive feeding by people including parks, parking lots, hospitals, museams, schools and similar venues.
See the Urban Feeder Users Guide for additional details about this heavy duty model.
INSTALLATION
The feeder comes from the factory fully assembled, although you will still have to install the battery and program the clock.
The feeder feet (3) are predrilled with 2 x 3/8” holes to accommodate anchors into either concrete or asphalt. Anchors are NOT included in the kit.
Unlike the rooftop version, the urban feeder comes with a directional scatter design. When installing the unit, ensure that the feeder exhaust is pointed in the appropriate direction. The feeder will broadcast the bait in a 30-degree pattern and a 25ft distance depending on the surface.
Use only WHOLE CORN as opposed to cracked corn as pre-bait in the Urban Feeder.
The OvoControl Urban Feeder includes an interior hopper for bait storage. For initial operation, open the top and remove the galvanized lid. Mark the inside of the hopper with a Sharpie Pen to confirm realignment when reinstalling the hopper.
Only remove the hopper after the interior alignment is marked. Remove the hopper with the two grips – use gloves as the edges can be sharp. The hopper must be removed to access the programming clock and battery.
PROGRAMING
Operation
See the OvoControl P Users Guide for step-by-step instructions for a successful contraceptive program.
At roughly 40lbs, the urban feeder has a smaller bait capacity than the rooftop version (130lbs+). Schedule service accordingly.
The urban feeder comes with a 6-volt rechargeable battery, but unlike the rooftop model, the urban feeder does NOT include a solar panel. We recommend purchasing an extra battery(s) that can be swapped out monthly. Do not allow the batteries to discharge completely as recharging will no longer be possible.
Use a trickle charger overnight to recharge spent batteries. Recharged batteries can be kept in a refrigerator, wrapped in newspaper. They can be stored indefinitely under these conditions.
While the feeder can withstand normal rainfall, it is not recommended to use a pressure washer to clean the machine. Avoid placing the feeder where it will be subject to irrigation overspray.
